The reappearance of one of the Best Swiss Watches:

Without any doubts, it is one of the best watchmakers founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1775.  His accomplishments were the numerous inventions and innovations that changed the

History of horology! He is recognized as the Father of Watchmaking.

His works and timepieces were quickly appreciated and as of a result of that, by 1777, he was working as a jeweler at the French Royal family. With the desire of developing the finest timepieces, he still continues his passion towards this. He created the first self-winding watch in the world in 1780, which was known as Perpetuelle or with other words, automatic movement.

The invention of the tourbillon escapement in1795 was his first important invention. The invention was patented in 1801 and it was placed in an 18-karat pocket watch.

Due to the difficulty of the creation of the tourbillon even for the today’s watchmakers, the invention of it was considered a great success! The first wristwatch was also invented by them and it was made for the Queen of Naples in 1810.

Breguet died in 1823, and his business was continued later on by his grandson, Louis Clement Breguet. In the years to come, the ownership of the business transfers from the family to private ownership of Georges Brown to Chaumet Brothers to Investcorp in 1987.

It was the year 1999, when the Swatch Group finally took over the company and resurrected their inheritance of ground-breaking and high valued watches. One of the most famous production from Breguet is the Classique collection, after the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the tourbillon in 2001.
Ref. 5237: It is made of 18-karat yellow gold with a hand-wound mechanical column-wheel chronograph. The 21 jeweled movement are numbered and bears the Breguet signature and the subdials are a seconds counter at 9 and a 30-minute totalizer at 3.

Ref. 5140: it is an exceptionally thin movement that is only 2.4mm with a self-winding caliber of 35 jewels. it has an off-centered seconds subdial located at 5 over an oven-fired hand-enameled dial and a cambered sapphire crystal. The power reserve of this watch is 48 hours. It has two versions: simple white dial and silver dial with guilloche pattern.

Ref. 5937PT: The above watch is the Classique Grand Complications that is made in silvered-gold and platinum. This unique watch has a minute repeater and a perpetual calendar. The subdials includes a counter with month and year at 12, a date counter at 3, a day counter at 9, and a moon phase at 6. It makes it special that only seven pieces were produced!

There are some other Classique collections such as: Classique Simple, Classique Alarm Reveil du Tsar, Classique Split-Second Chronograph and Classique Power Reserve.

Another collection worth looking at is the Heritage. Below is the Heritage Big Date. It has a tonneau shaped case having a dimension of 41.5mm x 35mm and a thickness of 10mm. The dial is guilloche patterned. The date display has double window located at 12 and its small seconds counter situated at 6.
