Movado
Movado - Big Innovators of Minimalism
Movado is a Swiss luxury brand that is a popular trend-setter. With a name that roughly translates as “movement”, it is not surprising that the brand is always a step ahead of its peers.
The company's humble beginnings dates back to 1881 when Achille Ditisheim set up a small business in La Chaux-de-faunds, Switzerland. Together with six skilled employees, Ditisheim set off to create a brand name that was synonymous with elegance and expert engineering.
It is testimony to their expertise that the early Movado watches were constructed entirely by hand. And their hard work was paying off well. Business was expanding and they were winning a number of prestigious awards like the 'Silver Medal' at the Universal demonstration in Paris.

After recognition, the company sought to successfully consolidate their brand name as a creator of top quality luxury timepieces. Some of their pioneering moments include the introduction of the 8 ligne wristwatch movements which won the 1910 Grand Prix Exhibitions in Paris. Their Polypan watch of 1912 was another revolutionary timepiece.
The company is best known for its Museum Watches. A Museum Watch boasted distinct style and identity with a watch display that had a single dot at number 12. It was such an innovative move that this model was placed as part of the Museum of Modern Art in 1969.
The business continues to revamp their models, keeping an eye on modern designs and styles. For instance, they recently re-introduced the KingMatic series. Adhering modern needs, the new model offers water resistance to a depth of 50 meters, elegant sapphire crystal and stainless steel case.
